Let Freedom Ring at the MAC this October

Let Freedom Ring, a night of music and poetry celebrating the strength and resilience of Black people takes place at the Midlands Arts Centre in Birmingham on 21st October.

We have some of our favourite performers from Birmingham lined up for the night who will be performing alongside a group of emerging artists with lived experience of mental health.

Our director Sandra Griffiths stated that,

“We want to change the narratives about slavery that continue to victimise generations of Black people. We want to talk about freedom and liberty and ‘Let Freedom Ring’ focuses on the positives by recognising and celebrating the strength of generations of Black people who have fought and continue to fight racism and oppression across the world.”

The event will be delivered in partnership with Birmingham-based community, media organisation Making Change Studios and is supported by The World Reimagined, a national programme that explores the legacy of the transatlantic slave trade and how institutions, educators and artists can rethink and make positive change to achieve racial justice.

More details and ticket info will be available in early September via all our social media outlets.
