Family of Words: Red Earth Collective and Renaissance One at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery

Join us in a sociable event that places poetry, calypso, storytelling and the art of wordplay centre stage. We present acclaimed poets and performers who elevate words and ideas and encourage us to respond and take part. Experience poetry from award-winning author Fred D’Aguiar and rising star Janett Plummer and be treated to the delights of live calypso and kaiso by famed calypsonian Tobago Crusoe.

The event is curated by Melanie Abrahams and co-produced by Red Earth Consultancy and Renaissance One in partnership with Birmingham Museums Trust.

Performances will take place in the Round Room between 3.30pm and 5.00pm – please feel free to come along for as little or as much as you would like. Suitable for all ages.
