The Red Earth Collective, with the support of The Baring Foundation, is running an Artist
Development and Training Programme to enable artists, across all disciplines, to support people with mental health issues.
The free programme will begin in September 2023 and will take place in Birmingham, UK. It will cover the following topics:
Understanding mental health, mental ill health and wellbeing and factors that contribute to them
Mental health policy and legislation and who delivers mental health services
How the arts contributes to mental health and wellbeing
Designing and delivering creative workshops with people with mental health problems
Psychologically safe practice and signposting to mental health services
The role of creative facilitator at The Red Earth Collective.
It will be delivered by established artists and mental health professionals and will provide practical advice, training, information, guidance and paid work experience opportunities to help artists to develop their skills and experience to deliver creative workshops and projects in mental health settings. Paid work experience opportunities will include StereoHype Social, StereoHype Festival and other projects that The Red Earth Collective secures, read more about those programmes here.
