Build It
Build It supports Black and Asian men, with lived experience of mental health problems, to
participate in creative activities to support their mental well-being.
This two year project runs until Spring 2027 and is delivered partnership with The Midlands Arts
Centre, with funding provided by The Baring Foundation.
Build It supports men who have very little engagement with the arts to develop their skills and get
involved in creative activity through workshops and classes and social activities including visits to
concerts, theatres and galleries.
We have spoken to 44 men in medium- secure and community settings about activities that they
would like to try. Based on these conversations we are now working with men’s groups, community
organisations and professional artists to offer a wide range of activities including music production,
spoken-word performances, percussion classes and film-making which will provide creative
opportunities for 72 men across the West Midlands.
